Lord Shiva declared him the most superior of all the Gods. Sankashti Chaturthi falls on the Chaturthi of the Krishna Paksha of each Hindu Calendar Month. This year it will be observed on June 17, Friday. The tithi timing is 6:11 AM, June 17 to 2:59 AM, June 18. On this day, in the morning, the devotees wake up early and take a shower. Then, they dedicate the whole day to worshipping Lord Ganesha. Some devotees keep fast, but some observe partial fast on this day. They can have vegetables and fruits on this day. After seeing the moon in the evening, the Sankashti Puja is performed. While performing the Puja, the idol of Lord Ganesha is decorated with flowers, and a lamp is also lit in front of his idol. The devotees may read the Vrat Katha considering the specific month. On this day, one may also recite the Ganesha Ashtottara Vakratunda Mahakaya, and Sankashtnashana Sthothra, as reciting them is considered auspicious. Modaks are the favorite eatables of Lord Ganesha, which are prepared and offered by the devotees to him. Nariyal is also offered to God to remove all the obstacles from life, get his blessings, and lead a happy and successful life. We wish you all a Happy Sankashti Chaturthi!
