The New Year 2022 marks a fresh beginning and is full of festivities. So, Lohri is one of the festivals with its charm and celebration. It is a festival celebrated on 13th January every year and is devoted to the God of Fire – Agni Dev. This year also it will fall on 13th January 2022, Thursday. It happens on the winter solstice and is observed one day before the Makar Sankranti and during the Paush or Magh months' beginning. It is celebrated mainly in North India, especially in Punjab, Haryana, Jammu, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. It is celebrated as Punjab's harvest festival, and in other regions, it is known by different names. In Tamil Nadu, it is called Pongal. In Andhra Pradesh, it is celebrated as Bhogi and Bhugali Bihu in Assam. Lohri festival happens on Uttarayan Day, making the beginning of the longer days and shorter nights. The Lohri festival celebrations begin in the morning with people exchanging greetings and sweets. People sing and dance around the bonfire at night with joy and merriment and pay respect to Dulla Bhatti. The most famous cuisine of the Lohri festival is Makki ki roti, and Sarson ka Saag and people enjoy jaggery or gur products.
