Nag Panchami is one of the most significant Hindu Festivals, and it is celebrated in India to worship the Snakes or Nag Devta. Nags or Snakes have an important place in Hindu Mythology. This festival is celebrated on the fifth date of the Savan Month’s bright half. As per the English Calendar, it falls in July or August. Considering Astrology, the Lord of the fifth Hindu date is nag or snake. This auspicious day is dedicated to the Bhujang Nag (Snake God). This year Nag Panchami will be celebrated on Tuesday, the 2nd of August. The Panchami Tithi will begin at 5:13 AM on the 2nd of August, 2022, and end at 5:42 AM on the 3rd of August, 2022.

Snakes have found an important place in the scriptures as well. Lord Shiva wears a snake around his neck. Snakes are worshipped on this day to get blessings and for wish fulfillment.

The Puja rituals start with waking up early in the morning and then cleansing oneself with the holy dip in the Ganges. Then sprinkle the holy water in the corners of the house and begin with keeping fast. Next, worship the snake’s idol and offer it raw milk mixed with sugar and ghee to get blessings. One may also offer Kumkum rice, turmeric, and flowers to Nag Devta. Next, recite Aarti, and then Dakshina is offered to the snake charmer. In the last, read the Nag Panchami Vrat Katha and perform Rudrabhishek to Lord Bholenath.

Nag Panchami is also an auspicious day to ward off Kal Sarpa Dosha. Replicas of snakes in metal are worshipped, and Puja is performed. On this holy day, people are also advised to avoid plowing the land so that snakes are not harmed under the surface. The entire nation celebrates this holy festival in its ways.

We wish you all a very Happy Nag Panchami! May all the obstructions and hindrances from one’s life be removed, and one may get success and happiness in their life!
