Diwali 2024: Know All the Traditions, Significance and Celebrations
Deepawali has greater spiritual, cultural, and religious significance. Moreover, this festival signifies the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. According to ancient Hindu mythology, this festival is celebrated as Lord Ram returns to Ayodhya with Brother Lakshman and Mata Sita after defeating Ravan, the demon king. People then welcomed them by lighting diyas and drawing rangolis.
In Bengal, Maa Kali is being worshipped on this auspicious day. It is known as Shyama Puja or Kali Puja and is performed at night.
This five-day festival starts with Dhanteras, which is considered auspicious for buying new items for the home. Then, comes Chhoti Diwali or Narka Chaturdashi. On this day, Maa Lakshmi is not worshipped, and people light lamps to eradicate negativity and stagnant energy.
The third day is the primary day of Diwali. On this day, people wear new clothes, decorate their houses with diyas, candles, and vibrant rangolis, prepare traditional delicacies, and worship Maa Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. Then, here comes the Govardhan Puja celebrations on the fourth day when the devotees worship Lord Krishna. Then, on the fifth day, Bhai Dooj is celebrated to strengthen the divine bond between brothers and sisters.
According to the best Astrologer, the sacred night of Diwali is also believed to be auspicious for chanting Mantras or “Mantra Siddhi.”
We wish “Shubh Diwali” to everyone! May this festival of lights brighten everyone’s life with success, good health, happiness, and prosperity!
