Basant Panchami, also known as Shri Panchami, Vasant Panchami, and Saraswati Puja, is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Goddess Saraswati is the Goddess of wisdom, knowledge, learning, music, art, and information. This sacred festival has derived its name from two words – “Basant” (meaning Spring) and “Panchami” (meaning fifth day). This year, in 2024, the Basant Panchami will fall on 14th, February 2024, Wednesday. The Panchami Tithi will start at 02:41 PM on 13th February and will end at 12:09 PM on 14th February. Though there is no particular time to perform the Goddess Saraswati Puja on this day, but it is considered auspicious to perform Puja during the Panchami Tithi. Many times, the Panchami Tithi does not prevail during the whole day, so it’s best to take into account the Tithi duration.
Basant Panchami 2024 – Significance, Rituals and Traditions
As mentioned earlier, Goddess Saraswati is worshipped on this day. The devotees usually wear yellow clothes as the color yellow holds a unique significance on this auspicious day. Yellow-colored dishes like kesar kheer, kesar halwa, yellow rice, etc., are prepared and distributed among people.

They keep their stationery items like copies, books, pens, pencils, and slate near the idol of the Goddess during the Puja ceremony.
