Ganga Dussehra is one of the primary festivals observed in honour of the Goddess Ganga. This day is celebrated as Mother Ganga descended on the earth on this day. This day has special importance in Hinduism. This auspicious festival is celebrated on Jyeshta Month’s Shukla Paksha Date. This year, it will fall on Thursday, the 9th of June, 2022. It is believed that taking a bath in the Ganga River on this day washes away ten types of sins that consist of four physical sins, three done by speech and three done mentally. This is why once in a lifetime, Hinduism followers take a dip in the holy Ganga River. This year Ganga Dussehra will start at 8:21 AM on the 9th of June, 2022, and end at 7:30 AM on the 10th of June, 2022. Whatever wishes the followers make on this day are fulfilled. A myriad number of devotees gather on the banks of the Ganga River and do Ganga Aarti. One should read the Ganga Mantra or Ganga Stotram while taking a dip in the holy river. After Puja, there is a belief of offering mangoes to the God. Let us note that the ten points have special significance or importance on this day, and the number of donations should also be ten, such as ten flowers, ten lamps, ten fruits, etc. Even the dip in the holy water of the Ganga River should also be ten times. Another belief associated with the Ganga Dussehra is that Moon depicts the water element. If anyone wastes or pollutes water in everyday life, the mind will not be smooth and will be disturbed. So, conserve water to better the life, mind, body and soul. We wish you all a very happy Ganga Dussehra. We wish that may everyone’s dreams and wishes be fulfilled.
