Guru Purnima is the day to celebrate the significance of Teacher or “Guru” in one’s life. Gurus are worshipped on this day, and this festival is considered very holy as the blessings are taken from the Gurus. As per the belief, Ashadh Month’s full moon day of Shukla Paksha is called Guru Purnima. It is also called by various names such as Vyasa Purnima, Ashadhi Purnima and Ashad Purnima. Considering the Panchang of this year, on Saturday 24th July 2021, Ashadh Month will end, and there will be the beginning of the Shrawan or Sawan Month. The birthday of Maharishi Vyas is also celebrated on this day. This year Guru Purnima will be celebrated on 24th July 2021, Saturday, and starting date of Purnima is on 23rd July 2021 from 10:43 AM onwards and will complete on 24th July 2021 at 8:06 AM. The significance of this festival is that we pay respect to the Gurus on this day, and without them, no knowledge can be acquired. Clean the house on this day and worship your Gurus and take their blessings. As per his or her affordability, one can also donate fruits, sweets, clothes, grains, etc., on this day to their Gurus.
