Usually, the Shardiya Navratri falls in September or October. This year, this auspicious nine-day festivities will start on 3rd October, Thursday and will end on 11th October, Friday. On Saturday, 12th October, there will be celebrations of the Vijayadashmi or Dussehra. The auspicious timing of the Ghatsthapana or Kalash Sthapana is between 6:15 AM and 7:22 AM.
Shardiya Navratri 2024: What is the Significance, Traditions and Rituals?
The devotees worship the nine forms of Devi Durga during the nine-day duration. These nine forms of Devi Durga are – Maa Shailputri (Day 1), Maa Brahmacharini (Day 2), Maa Chandraghanta (Day 3), Maa Kushmanda (Day 4), Maa Skandamata (Day 5), Maa Katyayani (Day 6), Maa Kalaratri (Day 7), Maa Mahagauri (day 8), and Maa Siddhidatri (Day 9).
The devotees observe fast and offer prayers to Devi Durga. They prepare and relish Satwik food like kuttu ki poori, makahne ki kheer, etc. As per the unique beliefs of the devotees, they perform Kanya Pujan on the 8th or 9th day. In some places in India, the Grabha or dandiya is also organized. This festival marks the triumph or victory of good over evil.
